CZECHOSLOVAK SOCIETY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES |
Dobruska 2004
Dear Friends:
Please find enclosed the application forms for this
summer's Czech Language Courses in Dobruska, Czech
Republic, which will take place from July 30 until
August 26, 2004.
Please note that there are two separate application
forms - the FIRST FORM is for those who are applying
for their expenses (related to the course, excluding
travel to and from the Czech Republic) to be covered
by the Czech Republic. (The second form is meant for
those who are ready to pay all of the fees and travel
costs covering their trip to the Czech Republic and
back). Please be advised that very few people are
admitted to the courses as paid for by the Czech
government. Therefore, applicants should decide before
submitting their final applications whether or not
they would like to apply for the self-payers' course,
as well (the second form).
* * Only those who are of Czech origin and at the same
time actively assist Czech American organizations and
societies to preserve and promote Czech language and
culture, and whose language skills will in the future
contribute to the activities of these societies, are
eligible to apply for the fully covered version of the
course. * *
Applications for the fully covered version of the
course should be mailed back to the Czech Embassy in
Washington, D.C.:
Embassy of the Czech Republic
ATTN: Dobruska Language Courses
3900 Spring of Freedom Street, NW
Washington, DC 20008
The deadline for the applications to reach the Embassy
is March 20, 2004.
Unfortunately, forms received after this date will not
be considered. Due to the large number of applicants,
we recommend applying as soon as possible.
Should you need any further information on this
course, please contact the Cultural Section of the
Czech Embassy at tel. (202) 274-9127.

The SECOND FORM is meant for those who are ready to
pay all of the fees and travel costs covering their
trip to the Czech Republic and back. The Dobruska
Czech Language Course 2004 program is co-sponsored by
the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs and thus a
recommendation by an association of compatriots from
abroad is required. This form (together with the
instructions on payments provided in the English
language) is also available on-line on the website
www.ujop.cuni.cz

For both versions of the course, lessons and
hotel-type accommodation (rooms with two beds) are
provided in the building of the Study Center (studijni
stredisko). Meals will be served in the nearby
restaurant; for those who prefer to make their meals
themselves, a kitchen in the Center will be available.
Participants will also enjoy extracurricular
activities, such as visiting historical sites and
folklore events etc., as well as experiencing the life
of Czech people first-hand.
The minimum age for participation has been set at 18.
Younger applicants will be accepted only when
accompanied by an adult.
Please note that transportation to the Czech Republic
is not covered for either course.
Important:
US passport holders do not need a visa for stays in
the Czech Republic of up to 90 days. Those who hold
passports from other countries (except the Czech
Republic, of course) should contact the Consular
Section of the Czech Embassy for more information at
tel. (202) 274-9100.
Thank you very much for your interest in the Czech
issues.
Sincerely,
Ivo Broskevic
